Missing Persons / AMBER Alert Training Documents
- The 2010 New Mexico Legislature passed Senate Bill 55 (SB55) which amended 29-15-1 Through 29-15-12, NMSA 1978 commonly known as the "Missing Persons Information and Reporting Act." The amended statute mandates all law enforcement officers receive training in reporting missing persons and activating AMBER Alert. Changes to the 2010-2011 Biennium In-Service Training requirements under 10.29.7.8 NMSA have been proposed to the NMLEA Board for adoption at the September 2010 meeting. If adopted the changes will require two (2) hours mandatory training for all certified officers and four (4) hours training in the Basic Academy curriculum in Missing Persons / AMBER Alert training.
- Below are sample MS PowerPoint presentations and reference materials which may be used by law enforcement agencies to meet this recent statutory mandate. The presentation has been accredited for two hours of in-service training.
