Mission Statement
The Training and Recruiting Division shall:
- Establish rules, policies, qualifications, and standards for the
employment, certification, and training of law enforcement officers
and public safety telecommunicators.
- Research, develop, and provide basic and advanced courses of instruction.
- Ensure compliance with the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Board
Rules.

NOTICE TO ALL FIREARMS INSTRUCTORS
All Firearms Instructors who hold a DPS Firearms instructor certificate must attend a file review and Firearms Instructor Update prior to renewing their Instructor Certificate.
DPS Firearms Instructor certificates will not be renewed for instructors who have not completed the file review and update course by the time of application for renewal.
Dates for File Reviews and Update courses are posted on the Advanced Training Calendar.
